:thumb259593602: UlitimatumThere had always been demons, or so Paul had always been told. They were a common sight around the farm, but they'd never bothered him as everyone knew they were under the complete control of the mages employed to tend them.  His father sometimes joked that he had more demons working for him than people, something that was probably true.
He'd seen them summoned from the lower world a couple of times too, a circle drawn the ground with sugar, a few words and that was it. He'd been told that demons could only climb up if they were surrounded by sugar, so you could control what size demon you got by altering the size of the circle, a large circle would raise a nark or a drumlai, whereas a handful thrown on the ground would only ever get you a grimlet.
Wild demons, however, were a different story. He could often hear their screeching and roaring from the cane fields at night, and although he knew they couldn't leave the fields, they struggled enough just staying on the surface, s

Provehito In Altum: Capricorn
Provehito in Altum: Capricorn
"Where you headed, girl?" he grumbled as she climbed into the cramped cabin.
"As far as you can take me," she said curtly. She had no time for pleasant formalities. "Quickly."
He liked her instantly; after several months of solitude, a female form was a welcome break from the oblivion of empty space. He would have found her beautiful even if she wasn't the first real female companion he had had in months. She was young, no older than twenty at the most. Her skin was bone pale, no doubt the product of living in the darkness of space, and flawlessly smooth. Her hair was long and raven-colored, just like the infinite horizon he spent his days gazing into. It elegantly framed the high, rounded cheek bones of her heart shaped face.
He was fascinated by her eyes the most. They were orbs of pure jade so clear and vibrant they seemed to glow with inner electricity. He could stare at them for hours; when he gazed into them, he felt as though he were sta

"It's perfect.  It looks just like what we thought it would."
"Yeah, it was tricky making sure all of the procedures went as planned, but we had enough of a sample for it to work.  Best of all, this one retained its full mental faculties."
"Well let's give it some time to recover before we move it to the facility.  The donators will be ecstatic to find out that their money finally brought a fossil back to life."
"Not to mention everything we'll be able to learn from it."
My eyes were still burning from the bright flash of light that knocked me out.  I could still see everyone running from the explosion, falling from the tremors shaking the planet.  It hurt to move, my body ached, unwilling to cooperate.  I couldn't help smiling in my mind, though.  Somehow, by some miracle, I managed to survive the catastrophe.  By all means everything should've been dead, but if I survived and that means others must
Space piratesDaemion gazed deeply into the nebula before him. Never in his life had he seen something so wonderful…so miraculous. It was as if God himself had, only moments before, swept his hand through the remnants of this supernova and created something that no man could ever replicate. He was so deeply in thought that he didn't notice as Raelen joined him on the observation deck of the ship.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Raelen said gazing deeply into the nebula himself.
"Indeed…" Daemion said hardly concentrating on the words Raelen was speaking.
"You know, I wonder if Co…" Raelen began but was interrupted as a massive tremor shook the entire ship.  Daemion and Raelen both fell to their knees, but Raelen was quicker to his feet, helping Daemion up.
"What the hell was that!?" Daemion shouted looking over the side of the ship, only to see a behemoth sized ship establishing a boarding corridor to the entry way of their ship. "Come on Raelen, we gotta go." He said calmly. He
